Leith Athletic FC returned to winning ways, with a 4-0 win at home to Gala Fairydean at Meadowbank 3G, thanks to goals from Euan Campbell, Gavin Tainsh, Greig Tulloch and Kyle Boggie.

Campbell, starting his first game in almost 20 months almost opened the scoring in just the third minute of the match.  A ball over the top from Gary Black was controlled well, but Campbell’s effort went wide of the post.

Marc Berry on the wing for Gala was causing the home side some problems and he got to the line well and delivered deep to the back post.  The ball was met by Jack Hay but he was unable to direct his shot on target.

The scoring was opened in the 41st minute of the match when a through ball from Neil Lowson was collected by Campbell.  His drag back opened up his options and he bent the ball into the far top corner of the net.

Leith doubled their lead just two minutes later when Dougie Thom collected the ball just inside the Gala half.  His run took three players out of the game and despite his effort on goal being saved by Elliot Turnbull, Gavin Tainsh bundled the ball over the line.

It could have been 3-0 just moments later when a Greig Tulloch effort was tipped onto the bar by Turnbull, but Stephen Barrie was unable to convert.

Into the second half and Gala had their only chance of the half when a ball from Berry found Hay one on one with Iain Gordon.  Hay’s effort was struck well, but Gordon saved comfortably.

In the 52nd minute, the home side increased their lead with the best goal of the game.  Lewis Cairns picked up in the ball in his own box and drove beyond two men before playing the ball into Campbell.  His ball wide into the path of Black was crossed into the box and Tulloch headed home.

With just ten minutes remaining, substitute Kyle Boggie latched on to a ball from Darren Smith and his effort squirmed under Turnbull to make it 4-0 and to seal all three points for Leith Athletic FC.
